there were so many... here is a little tease of what a weekend we held a couple months ago at the beautiful Nita Lake Lodge. mimosas... laughter... a professional make up artist (thanks Chrystal) and some beautiful and brave ladies!!

for how MUCH i LOVED this wedding!! 

it was beautiful, sweet, fun, lovely... 

the details were amazing!! 

marcie from BLISS did the planning and the flowers... AMAZING as usual. 

and the people... well... 

our kind of people.

in january i had the honor of photographing a family in vancouver. 

the mom had just been diagnosed with terminal cancer and they wanted photos for her children when she was still feeling well. and so... we met at the beach and we captured this and it was lovely, and beautiful, and sad, and hard, and joyful, and hopeful, and resolved. 

and in the months that followed, i kept up with this family through mutual friends, through reading her story, through a few plays at the park with our kids being the same age. and i found each time that i was so inspired... inspired to be a better mom, to live each day more fully. to love and laugh more. to know God. to understand the gift we have been given as mothers... to be thankful. to slow down... to rest. 

it was a short friendship, one in which i was given more then i gave. 

i am thankful, and humbled to have been invited into her life even for such a short time. 

that through photography i was granted a very special place to see her family interact... to see the courage, and love, and bravery through my lens. 

on July 2nd rachel passed away peacefully in her sleep. 

and... it is sad. i am sad. 

please keep her family in your prayers...

okay... i was smitten at first glance.
a little lace skirt and grey booties....
plus... maybe gimpses of her mammas red hair color.

and then... the love.
the way they held her... loved her... whispered to her.

not to mention the light... the peonies throughout the house... and a gorgeous grandma pulled into the mix.

it was peaceful and sweet.

thanks to you both for allowing me in to capture just a glimpse of your new life.

wedding rain...

it drizzled... and then it rained and then... it poured. and yet as it seems to do... it only made this wedding more intimate... more romantic... more sweet. it was the perfect location for a rainy day. and nothing... not even a downpour storm was going to dampen the excitement and beauty of this bride. 

i love how you can see the rain hitting the lake.

actually... two.
i have two boys that love to skate...
2 skater boys.
and i... love to watch.

i also love that our friends love to skate...
i love that as families we go to the skate park... and have picnic dinners...
and that our boys have this life... and this dad.

i LOVE my job...

because in perfect light for photos i get to go on walks with interesting people... and their adorable kids... 

i get to talk about things like india... and share travel stories... 

and in the midst of it... i get to capture images like these... 

grateful....

i am grateful for my big boy...
and even more for his GREAT friends.

here is one...
last year they just ran and played.

this year... they talk and chat... and have conversations...
and i just sit there and wonder what they are talking about...
but then when i get close... they go and run and play.

hmmm....
